The Trip
Have you ever been cycling between zebra and antelopes? Well, this is your chance! Lake Mburo is a small but very beautiful national park at a 4-hour drive from Kampala. The park hosts many species of wildlife like: hippo’s, buffaloes, Uganda kob, water bock, etc.

The tour includes some wonderful rides on the park border where there is plenty of wildlife to be found. The tracks will offer you a thrilling ride through a truly magical landscape. The rides can be adapted to the experience and fitness level of the group, varying from beginner to advanced. Accommodation will be in safari tents on a hill with a beautiful view of the area.

Detailed itinerary

Day 01: Airport Pick-up

Our drivers will pick you up early in the morning and take you to Lake Mburo, one of Uganda’s smallest National Parks. During the 4-hour drive you will slowly see the environment changing from a busy urban area into a green and peaceful setting. On our way you will pass the equator. There’s ample time for some pictures and a coffee and snack. You will reach your accommodation around lunchtime, which you can enjoy from a terrace with a magnificent view over the park. After lunch we will do an 20-40km ride on the borders of the park. Plenty of chances to spot wildlife like zebra’s, Ugandan kob, water bocks or a warthog. The loop will end at the accommodation where you will have diner under the stars. Sleep with the sound of roaring hippo’s on the background.

Day 02: Explore Kampala

On the second day we will start cycling pretty early to be able to see as much wildlife as possible. Did you know that Lake Mburo also houses a family of giraffes? A group of 16 species was released in 2016 to help getting the fauna of the park back to its original state. Maybe you will spot one of these majestic animals. Today’s ride will be 20-40km and tailored made to your experience and fitness level. We can enjoy our packed lunch during the ride or make sure to be back at the camp around lunch time. There is time to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature, before we head back to Kampala.
